Sometimes God looks down on creation. He is always very pleased, since he is a good god (the BEST) and he is allmighty, so obviously his creation is nothing less than the best. But sometimes even God wonders at something:

I use the Simple Tags Plugin for WordPress. If you type the 3 letters G-O-D into the plugin it suggests 2 tags:
- “GOD”
- “Seth GODin“.
Seth appears second, so there is still some work to do. I immediately had to think of John Lennons dictum:
“The Beatles are more popular than Jesus.”
That statement made big waves in the sixties, as any- and everything Lennon said back then. We are educated to be touchy (and even a little superstitious) with the holy names. On the other hand: facts are facts – like them or not.
Up to this point John Lennon has had more influence on my life than Seth Godin. I just made sure via Google Trends that Lennon is still more popular than is Godin. And God is even more popular than Lennon and Godin together (although God’s popularity mysteriously seems to drop in the middle of each year).
If you type the 3 letters “S-E-T” into Simple Tags you get:
- Goal Setting
- Seth Godin
I think that’s what Seth is about for most of us: “Goal Setting”, making a plan to make it big in life, seeing through the (business-, marketing-) machinations of this world, snatching that place in the sun for ourselves and our loved ones.
That’s our not-so-spiritual number one priority, isn’t it? Who is interested in paradise after death? Who is interested in being up there above the clouds, looking down?
